I am so proud of this gift guide. It's full of some of the most unique businesses backed by the most incredible people. Now, more than ever, we need to shop small, support small, and protect small. Our small businesses are the lifeline of our communities. Many of the people in this list were guests on my Side Hustlers podcast and a lot of them left their day jobs to follow their dreams of being a full-time entrepreneur. This list is "Carla Marie Certified" - I have either shopped, visited, or had the owner of the business on my podcast. I've been obsessed with small businesses and discovering new products for years and have made it my mission to be their megaphone. This list is full of my favorite accessories from small businesses but I've separated some of them into other categories for you; men, Seattle-area businesses, accessories, home/things, and beauty.
A lot of these companies are running Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales so I would shop early. Keep in mind, this isn't small business Prime, they will take a little longer to ship because the are small. Give yourself time when ordering.
As you browse the gift guide you'll see I mention the location of most of the businesses, this will help you if you want to shop local to your area or local to the area of the gift recipient.
If you can't support by shopping here are some FREE ways to support that I know ALL of this businesses will love: follow them on Instagram, like their posts when you see them in your feed, comment on their posts with words (emojis don't help the algorithm), share posts with friends who you think will like to see them, and BOOKMARK the post (Instagram weights this very heavy in the Instagram formula). The more people do this for small businesses the more their posts will be shown to others. You're basically giving them free marketing.
HAPPY SHOPPING!! AND THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING SMALL!
The Chalk Boss may be famous for her custom handwritten chalk designers but I'm obsessed with this "Hot Mess" sweatshirt. While you're shopping for the sweatshirt check out Katie's custom prints of her chalk designs; you can find everything from Christmas to spring! And you can pick up a custom personalized ornament. Listen to Chalk Boss on Side Hustlers.
Shop the cutest and comfiest clothing! Kelly built a brand to make women feel and look great while also being comfortable. I have everything from date-night shirts to sweatshirts from Rollick. I'm a big fan of the new faux leather Moto leggings (hell, get em for yourself!) but my all-time favorite sweatshirt is from Rollick. I have the green "PNW" style but you can shop the sweatshirt for someone not from the PNW with Rollick's "Local" crewneck. It will be their favorite sweatshirt ever...I PROMISE. Listen to Rollick on Side Hustlers.
Comfy and unique clothes with a purpose? Can't go wrong! Shop HOMS Seattle for anyone on your list from teen to adult. HOMS= Heart On My Sleeve and it's signature design shows three different types of hearts to showcase the fact that we all can be feeling different ways everyday. This clothing line is run University of Washington football player and student, Race Porter, I have no answers on how he has the time to do all of this! Race gives back to mental health organizations with every purchase! Listen to Race Porter tell the story of HOMS Seattle on Side Hustlers.
If cozy were sold in a store it would be at Palms, Psalms, and Prosecco. Shop comfy clothing, mugs, and
candles that smell amazing. One of my favorite sweatshirts is from here (wearing it now actually), it's not in stock anymore but you can find many other comfy sweatshirts like it! Amanda, the owner, is from Minnesota and was a photographer before a store owner so she shoots all of her products photos on her own! Listen to Palms, Psalms, and Prosecco on Side Hustlers.
I struggled with what photo to share of RSVLTS gear because there is JUST SO MUCH GREATNESS. John and Stephen have taken nostalgia and turned it into a clothing line. Find clothing featuring Nickelodeon, Disney, WWE, your favorite holiday movies, and so much more! Shop RSVLTS for ANY guy on your list but I'm a big fan of the clothes too, I order an XS in the short sleeve button downs and they work great! Oh, and their women's swim line is AWESOME. Use code carlamarie20 at checkout for 20% off your order! Listen to the RSVLTS on Side Hustlers.
Anything you buy from The Shop Forward is going to be a great gift but my favorite is their 4 Things Collection. You can customize any of the items from shirts to totes to notebooks with someone's favorite "4 things". I've given the 4 Things Tote as a gift to so many people in my life and it's always a huge hit. Plus anything you purchased from the 4 Things collection will give back to an orphanage in Haiti. Listen to The Shop Forward on Side Hustlers.

The only time I will ever tell you to buy socks as a gift is if you buy From The Ground Up Socks. I have been skiing for years and ALWAYS have issues with my socks until I wore FTGU socks. I wear them hiking and they're great. You don't have to be an adventurer to enjoy them either, you can wear them everyday! I love their compression socks whether you're a runner or a doctor standing all day. The socks are great quality and they look great! The socks are stitched with images of PNW mountains and while you're there pick up some masks! Listen to From the Ground up socks on Side Hustlers!
Perhaps there's someone on your list who needs a reminder to Quit BItching or maybe they love telling people to "Quit Bitching" (hi dad). Shop hats, tanks, tees, and sweatshirts with the slogan "Quit Bitching". Listen to Quit Bitching Coalition on Side Hustlers.
Simple, unique, fun, and handmade are the all the words I need to describe SWDSGNS. I'm a huge fan of the simplicity because the styles can be dressed up or dressed down. Choose from embroidered shirts that say "no bra club" to a shirt with "ew, David" embroidered on the collar and SO much more. Originally from Cleveland, Samantha moved to New York this year where she hand stitches every item you see on SWDSGNS. Listen to SWDSGNS on Side Hustlers.
The smallest of small businesses. Derek Jensen is a college student at Montclair State University who dreamt of owning a fashion brand so he launched Urban Lifestyle by Derek Jensen. He's a one-man band creating, printing, and shipping out of his parent's basement. Shop the very festive "There's some ho's in this house" sweatshirt and t-shirt. Listen to Derek Jensen on Side Hustlers.
I love vintage band tees! There's definitely someone on your list who loves wearing vintage clothing or someone with an edgier style. The place to shop for them is Gold Dogs. The store is based in my neighborhood in Seattle but you can shop online. I've shopped here for a variety of events like hosting on AXS TV to the sequin Free People dress I wore to the iHeart Country Festival. And if someone on your list loves cowboy boots you can find an entire wall of used badass cowboy boots. Gold Dogs is one of my favorite clothing stores ever.
If I could move in to this boutique, I would. September Shop is also in my neighborhood in Seattle and the owner, Gillian, curates the trendiest and cutest clothing around. As an adult woman it can be hard to find clothing that fits your style...September is the place to shop for that woman on your list. And not just women! There are trendy clothes for guys too! And if your'e in the area they're hosting a "Mini Moon Market" shop local vendors like Laura Burkhart and Henri Co right at September Shop!
"Mahalo" is Hawaiian for expressing gratitude so anything from this shop makes a perfect gift for someone you're grateful for. Mahalo Made is based in Phoenix and is a Shave Ice truck which unfortunately only people actually in Phoenix can enjoy! The rest of us however, can enjoy the Mahalo merch. From hoodies and crewnecks to stickers and pins you'll find fun to shop! The owner, La, exudes love and positivity and is one of the most real humans I've ever met. You can listen to her on my Side Hustlers podcast.
If you live in Washington, no matter how short or long, you gasp when you see Mount Rainier. IT's massive and beautiful. But you can't always see it (hi Washington clouds) so when the mountain is out you do a little celebration! An Instagram account was created for this very reason, to tell people when the mountain is out. The creator, David, has since turned it into a clothing line supporting National Parks! There's everything from clothing to stickers! Listen to Rainier Watch on Side Hustlers.
Well it's obvious who this is for...me! But really, it's for the National Park Geek on your list. Someone who lives visiting the parks or has a goal to. visit the parks. Since air travel came to a halt this year a lot of people started visiting their local parks so someone on your list may have a new love for our National Park System. Shop merch that shows off their national park geekiness. Their Instagram doesn't show their merch but rather pictures of our National Parks so I uploaded a pic of one of their shirts below. Daniel, the owner, had a love of National Parks so he launched this company. Every purchase helps support the National Park System. Listen to National Park Geek on Side Hustlers.
There's at least one fishermen or hunter on your list that you have NO idea what to get for the holidays. Rep Your Water
is an apparel brand with unique clothing for hunters and anglers that also helps support conversation ALL over the US. You can shop by state and know that when you purchase clothing from a specific location Rep Your Water is giving back to that area. Run by a husband and wife, Garrison and Corinne, who have a love for fly fishing and the fly fishing community. Listen to Rep Your Water on Side Hustlers.
Kids are more difficult to buy gifts for than men because they will call you out on your crappy gift. If you don't want to be the family member that gets them boring clothes...get them COOL clothes. Eve Kids has the coolest clothes for kids and if you live in Washington you must visit their store in Kirkland, it's so fun. If you don't, you can shop online for toys, clothes, and books! It's owned by a mom, Samantha, who also owns Chromatique Hair salon in Washington!
You are guaranteed to get a one-of-a-kind gift from Ponderosa Creative. I have a denim jacket I bought when I shopped from Ponderosa Creative a the Full Moon Market and I love it. The jacket is upcycled but stitched on to the back is a quilted design. You'll find many styles like my jacket from Paige, the owner of Ponderosa Creative, but you'll also find quilted pouches, and metallic stickers!
It's all in the name with Purpose Boutique...when you shop online or at any of their locations in Washington a percentage of every sale goes to Rescue: Freedom International to help fight human trafficking. Christie, the founder and CEO, believes there is more to fashion that just wearing clothing, she also carries over 20 brands of clothing created by survivors of trafficking and social injustice from all over the world. Some of my favorite pieces of clothing are from Purpose Boutique and I wear them proudly, knowing they're supporting good. Visit their stores in Kirkland, Tacoma, or Silverdale! Listen to Purpose Boutique on Side Hustlers!
One of the first PNW companies I became a fan of was Wish You Were Northwest! I have owned the sweatshirt in the photo below for years and it's so comfortable. I also have a tank top that says "tyna hike" which is one of my faves. Run by sisters, Tahnee and Tory, you'll find something for the adventurer (or lazy bum) on your list. I even bought a onesie for my brand new great nephew that says "NRTHWST"!
For the cats and cat lovers on your list! What started out as an Instagram account for two adopted cats and their human sisters turned into a viral sensation and a feel-good cat-gear company. Joy and Treasure were adopted through Beth Stern's foster program which partners with North Shore Animal League (recently adopted is Sparkle Pants). After creating their @JoyandTreasure Instagram so many people fell in love with the endearing videos of two kids and their cats. Recently they launched their Joy and Treasure store where you can shop for cat toys and gear for all of the cat lovers on your list. Plus they donate a portion of proceeds to North Shore Animal League!
